It’s Time to Listen.

After months of planning and fundraising, the Shalefield Organizing Committee is finally getting down to work.  We’ve met our fundraising goals, and our ever-expanding team of trained listeners is prepared to canvas, call, and sit-down with community members across Sullivan County.

We’re ready to listen.

We’re very excited to announce that our 3 month fundraising driving has raised enough money to fund 4 full-time listeners, and to fund the costs associated with their daily work.  This money was raised through benefit concerts, chili dinners, pie auctions, art shows, crowdsourcing, private donors, and one micro-grant from the Center for Environment, Health and Justice!

We tabled at the Sullivan County Fall Fest on the weekend of October 12th.  It was a learning experience.

We also tabled at Powershift in Pittsburgh, and were excited to connect with people from all over the country who believe in the power of listening and relationship-building as essential to long-term movement work.

SOC Drives to Powershift

Our Listening Team:

Now is made up of 4 full-time listeners, and 3 part-time listeners.  Five of us hail from NE PA.  One is from Lancaster, and one is from Philly.

Check Back Soon, and Often: We will be posting updates from the field often, and hope to share stories from some of the folks we meet along the way.
